When George Mottershead, an ex-serviceman still struggling to come to terms with the effects of the Great War, finds a monkey locked up in a quarantine cage, it sparks an idea that becomes a life-long mission. This hour-long tour takes you behind the scenes and into our Veterinary Clinic.

For all ages. Tickets must be purchased for all guests attending the tour. Each tour provides the enthralling, breathtaking experience of seeing the world's dramatic wildlife up close. Choose from Rhino Rescue Center, Lion & Friends, Tiger & Friends, Roos & Mates, Veterinary Medical Center, and Cheetah & Friends safaris. Get up close to the animals, visit behind-the-scenes areas not accessible to the general public, receive a guided walking tour from one of our educators and see what goes into the incredible care the animals receive every day. He dreams of building Britain’s first zoo without bars. Please note: Because this is an active area, opportunities may vary and tours may be canceled last-minute to accommodate medical needs that arise. Private tours require one-month advance booking, but now select tours are available monthly on set dates, perfect for smaller groups or those with flexible schedules. This two-hour adventure also includes a tour around the Zoo, with stops to visit some of our other animals up close. The annual weekend features tours of parts of the zoo visitors don't usually get to see.
